CJ happy with Wild Eggs

by Robin Garr » Sat Nov 03, 2007 8:39 am

Marty seems to enjoy Wild Eggs just about as much as everyone else has, filing a highly complimentary 599-word review and three-star rating today. No quibbles from here, although I was a little puzzled to see a reference to the venue having "robin's egg blue" walls. My recollection is that it's mostly pastel shades of yellow and green. Maybe I've gone color-blind, but this short video that I posted on opening night seems to substantiate my recollection. Not a big deal - I'm thinking maybe one short divider wall is blue. I've also got a short review of Wild Eggs coming in this week's Voice-Tribune. Looks like Marty beat me to it. ;)

Had breakfast at Wild Eggs this afternoon and it was very good. I had a mushroom and garlic scramble cooked to perfection. A little runny, just how I like them. The fried potatoes and everything muffin were scrumptious. Their pancakes were huge and delicious. This place is up there with Toast, Lynn's, and North End. Highly recommended.

I totally agree, went for breakfast with my family. My kids, wife and I loved everything we had. Great new choice for breakfast. Fernando

Was gonna try it yesterday but it was a little too packed so we decided on The Patron.....which was a mistake. They visibly burnt everything we ordered and all of it was as bland as toiletpaper. I really dislike when restaurants burn food and then try to serve it. Burnt food should never leave the kitchen. Anyway, this is about Wild Eggs...I hope to go there when the wait isn't 30 minutes.

Another Great Meal, but....

by Mark R. » Sat Dec 01, 2007 11:48 pm

My wife and I went to Wild Eggs today for the first time and I totally agree their food is excellent. The meals we had were prepared very well and the muffins are great and very unique! But my wife and I agree that while their food is excellent they need a couple more touches to make the place excellent. What are those touches? First off the need a little more decoration in the place, nothing fancy just some art deco pictures of eggs or egg based cartoons or something to make the place look a little more attractive. Secondly they need a little refinement on the foodservice such as warmed syrup for the waffles etc., they've started this way with the fresh ground pepper that the wait staff offers but need a couple of more touches like that.

Maybe the second location in Camelot Center will solve the decor issues but the little refinements for the foodservice would add little or no cost but add a lot.

Overall it certainly is a great concept that Louisville needs and I'm sure it will thrive.

We went there last week. The food was good, but I'm not used to that kind of wait anymore.

Had lunch there yesterday, all walls yellow and blue. ;)

And the meal was of course fabulous as always.

Okay, I just replayed the video linked in this thread. Still looks like shades of yellow and green to me, although the video quality isn't all that high. Maybe we're variably defining shades of blue-green and yellow-green? I sure don't see any "robin's egg blue," though. Unless they've re-painted.

And yes, the meals are just about always fabulous at Wild Eggs, although I find I'm tiring of the multi-flavor muffins.

I'm still enjoying the muffin, which honestly I think of as more of a biscuit, but I'll agree that they could benefit from branching out a little in that regard. Maybe add a sweet muffin for an option between sweet and savory. A sweet muffin would make a great choice for those mornings when I'm having a hard time deciding between waffles and a fritatta.

Stopped by Wild Eggs for lunch today. It is just the kind of straight ahead, good breakfast place Louisville needs.

I like Toast a bit better--I like the funkier vibe and the more interesting dishes--but Wild Eggs is a winner.

I finally had the chance to check this place out this weekend. The food was excellent (I had the eggs benedict, my mother a ham/cheese/mushroom omelet). The grits of the day were very good, but the fried potatoes were fantastic! Service was also very efficient and friendly--I highly recommend this place!

I got there yesterday along with five friends. Everyone loved it! I had the Hippy Crunch Waffle (what else?) Belgian Waffle topped with granola, fruit and whipped cream. I'll ask for the syrup no the side next time, though. it was a tad sweet, not that that's a bad thing.

I dearly love Toast, and it's certainly closer to me, but I think I've had everything on the menu. I'd really like to see a menu update or featured items.
