PR: Qdoba giving away Derby tix at J'town grand opening

by Robin Garr » Wed Apr 25, 2012 12:28 pm

Qdoba Mexican Grill announces the grand opening of its first location in Jeffersontown, at 1831 Blankenbaker Parkway, on Monday, April 30.

To celebrate the opening, the Jeffersontown Qdoba will be giving away two free tickets to the Kentucky Derby to one lucky guest. Guests can enter to win the tickets by visiting the new Qdoba from opening day through Wednesday, May 2 and swiping their Qdoba Rewards card with their order. Rewards cards can be picked up at the register at the time of purchase. The winner will be announced on May 3.

There will also be a ribbon cutting with the Jeffersontown Chamber of Commerce at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 30. The public is welcome to attend.

All of Qdoba’s meals are handmade in front of guests and topped with personally selected fresh ingredients, including one of five distinctive salsas. Guests can sample some of Qdoba’s signature flavors, including Mexican Gumbo™, Queso and Ancho Chile BBQ Burritos, as well as its Craft 2™ menu. Craft 2 lets guests mix and match smaller portions of Qdoba’s most popular items, including a Naked Burrito®, Naked Taco Salad™, Mexican Gumbo™, 3-cheese nachos, two tacos, quesadilla or tortilla soup.

This is the 12th Qdoba location in the greater Louisville area and marks the 19th location in Kentucky. Guests can visit the Qdoba Louisville Facebook Page to keep apprised of all of the promotions, events, etc. for the new Jeffersontown restaurant and other Louisville-area Qdoba locations.

So apparently the location in J-town across from Stoney Brook isn't in J-town?

West side of Hurstbourne? Probably it's not. That takes me back a way, too, as I was covering local government during the period when J'town Mayor Frank Chambers annexed most of the unincorporated property around the city with the idea of adding future commercial development to its tax base. Damn good idea, from the city's standpoint; from that of the commercial tenants, maybe not so much.

But your issue is with the people who wrote the news release. Me, I'm all about the Derby tickets. 8)

It is in J-Town, just barely. There's sort of a bulge in the line that incorporates that area.

Well, I'll be darned. Thanks, Jeff. That must have been one of J'town's last annexations before a pre-merger moratorium on small-city annexations went into effect.

Qdoba's PR folks tell me, for the record, that the derby seats are in Section 128, Grandstand.
