Restaurant Recs Near Seelbach

Someone my sister works with is coming to Louisville for a conference, and is staying at the Seelbach. He is looking for restaurant recommendations near the hotel, but I'm rarely downtown these days, and was hoping for some suggestions. TIA!

Marketplace on Theatre Square! Two blocks south of the Seelbach, and worth the walk. :)

Of course, there's the Oakroom in the Seelbach, fancy and pricey; and Otto's, the smaller cafe in the Seelbach, which I can't honestly rate as a destination.

Ditto TheatreSquare Marketplace- we love it here! If the weather is nice, they also have one of the nicest patios in town.

Another vote for Marketplace.
PS the last time I ate at Otto's, well, it was the LAST time. Probably ever.

I'm wondering about the Oakroom a little. With Bobby Benjamin gone to La Coop, who's in charge of the shop these days? I just surfed to the Oakroom website and it doesn't seem to name any staff, which seems odd.

Jonas Bowman is running the ship as far as I'm aware, he has been an Oakroom employee for 3(?) years and is very familiar with the 5 diamond standards that are expected. Jonas and I (alone) ran the Oakroom together back when Chef Benjamin got married during the summer of 2010 without any hiccups and I'm sure he's doing the same now. I also believe that it is still under the mindful eye of Jim Gerhardt, possibly even more so now.

I hope he has a fun Derby.

Thank you all so much for your suggestions! I was able to put together a pretty good list for him using your suggestions here, and on other threads, as well as some of my own experiences. He was quite impressed! Still not sure when he's coming. It's not for Derby, it's for a professional conference, but hopefully he'll let my sister know where he dined, and I'll pass on his comments. Thanks again!!!!
