Wow that really sucks. Those guys were always so nice and kept the shop really neat and fresh looking. Ive always thought that was a tough location, tucked in that corner with no street view.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Second to both motions. Nice people, nice store (with a good wine shop inside). I do think the way that plaza was built causes some of its problems - for people shooting down Main who aren't familiar with it, it's way too easy to pass by without realizing that there is Stuff in there.

First Melillo's closed. Then the winery. If it had been in the front where the winery had been located, it might have had a better chance.
This is where a chain has to step in because of their deep pockets. A Fresh Market, Publix, Whole Foods, something for downtown.
When I was growing up, there was a Winn Dixie or A&P on 4th, near the movie theaters. East side of the street. My mother's cousing was the manager:-)

The business is for sale for $200,000. With retail margins, it would take some volume to earn that back ...

What downtown is desperately needing is some sort of retail: a Grocery Store specifically. This would be a great opportunity for the folks at ValueMarket to put in a real locally owned crown jewel of a store. It would be awesome if it could be! Then we can get other creature comforts there like dry cleaners and a Cinema (another branch of APEX perhaps?) Then those condos would fill up like crazy!

I like your ambitious ideas and don't find them too far fetched. For those who haven't been down to the riverfront at Towhead Island, where Frankfort Ave ends, make a point to do so. The marina and first apartment complex is a serious development that is going to change that area. I think it is the most exciting development taking place in Louisville at the moment (in conjunction with the Big Four bridge). The folk living in that area will be migrating to East Market for their immediate needs.

Insider Louisville reports:
‘Relish’ this: Susan Seiler returning to restaurant biz this fall

http://insiderlouisville.com/news/2012/ ... this-fall/

Where?...........River Road!...........I knew this place was going to hit the radar screen as I had predicted in an earlier post. One just needs to drive by to see the dynamics taking shape.
