This is the problem with industrialized agriculture. No way to insure quality control when you make food in a factory.

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza. D Barry

I agree that frozen pizzas are not very good, but they have a use, especially when there are kids in the house. There is not always time to fix something and frozen pizzas will be eaten by kids.

And I have to agree with Chris .... where do I, or any pizzeria get locally produced pepperoni?

Well if you read General Mills website, "they" say that over a 5 month period 9 of the 21 or so people ate their pizza prior to being sick. So the other million or so pizzas that went out didnt get people sick and the other 11 cases didnt eat their pizza. It sounds like its a just in case recall according to "They".
Im not a food"ie", I am a food"er".

If you can't find it local, buy it from a good, reputable, high-quality producer. I get all my pepperoni, salami, etc. from Volpi Fine Foods in St. Louis, MO. I've been to the location where all their salumi is made. I trust that source.
