Ray Cook BBQ

Robin, thank you for your assistance logging onto the Forum! Wine and BBQ are great, not so much for computers.

I made a return trip to Ray Cook's BBQ place in Oldham county, right off Highway 42 and east of Highway 53 (goes to LaGrange). Phone number is 664-7098. First time, the ribs were fantastic, as was the potato salad. Also, excellent country fresh eggs. I wanted to go back again.

I called last night around 5:30, Ray answered, and he still had ribs. Pretty country drive to the small house with the cooker nearby. We talked about the selections and picked out our rack of pork ribs for carryout. I do not know about cooking ribs and such, but I like mine flavorful, sauceless, and fresh. The ribs were so juicy, they dripped a little bit on the clean counter. Ray's lovely wife wrapped the ribs while we looked around at all the other offerings. We left with the ribs, a boneless chicken breast and bacon (Ray makes it). Ray prepares a lot products in that small building, I think fish, too. If I had been alone, I would have snacked on the way home, but manners count. At home, I heated a soft butter roll from Plehn's Bakery in St. Matthews and the meat fell off the bone onto the warm roll. I dipped my little boneless sandwich into BBQ sauce I purchased from Ray. Yummy! My dining companion ate ribs the regular way and the room was silent, but for the staring animal friends. I will have to save the bacon to try another day. My dining companion soon left with the remaining ribs, and a smile. I kept the chicken and made a delicious taco today, moist and meaty.

:D

Did the ribs have a dry rub on them?

You mentioned you had them sauceless so I wondered if they were brave enough to serve them with without seasoning. The smoke and pork flavor is enough for some people.

I don't have an exact address, but it is about 1 mile North of 393 and 4 or so miles South of 53 on Hwy 42. Heading North on 42...it is on the left hand side in a yellow building.

FYI...it is a take out place.

Ray is the best and his food is as well.

6001 U.S. Hwy 42, between the 10 and 11 mile markers. The posted hours that I saw this afternoon when I passed are Friday and Saturday 12 - 6.
