Ginger Restaurant & Tea House Gone

by StaceyBreckel » Sat Apr 14, 2012 1:30 pm

Yesterday I was in the mood for Chinese, so decided to drive out to Ginger Restaurant and Tea House in Mount Washington. When I got there, we found it had very recently been replaced by another chinese restaurant, and after reluctantly dining there (don't try new chinese restaurants usually without a recommendation, as quality tends to vary greatly) was sorely disappointed. Ginger was the only good chinese restaurant out this way. I am really sad to see it go. It's quite a drive in for me to get good chinese now, as all that is out here really is chinese buffets :(
From the look of it, this has only happened within the last few weeks. They had a review on urbanspoon as recent as March 27.

Sorry to hear you were disappointed, Stacey, but thanks for letting us know. Are there other Chinese restaurants within a halfway reasonable distance - Fern Creek, maybe? - that you like as much as Ginger?

Nothing so far :/ I'm about 5 miles off of the Brooks exit, so it's probably about the same to go to Preston or fern creek. Ginger was the go to place for us out here, so have only tried one of the places within about ten miles of us (other than China Cafe, Ginger's replacement), which was Golden Buddha, and I wasn't very impressed.
I have a hard time finding new chinese restaurants that are good and my fiance' (the equivalent of a picky child) will eat at.... He will only eat sesame chicken, or fried rice (not the yellow fried rice many serve). I have to go all the way in to Empress Of China, or Bamboo House, which is a little hole in the wall, but has sesame chicken he'll eat and quite a few dishes I really enjoy.

I think The Empress Of China has been sold ... I saw a lunch buffet sign the other day ...
