Frozen Yogurt - U of L area

by Leah S » Fri Apr 13, 2012 9:24 pm

Just got back home and I'm in serious like with this place. Funny thing is, though, I still don't know the name of it. "Top This" was written over the toppings bar, "Fresh Fit" was on a brochure and no one in the place ever referenced a specific name for the shop. Signage is lacking.

All the yogurts are either very low fat or fat-free. Many are full of anti-oxidants and other fine stuff. No sugar, although there are sweeteners.

But the bottom line, is that this stuff is YUMMY. Frankly I like it better than the "Cow" (which is across the street) primarily because I feel weighed down after the full fat ice cream but wonderfully non-guilty after the yogurt. There's a toppings bar with candy, cereal, fresh fruit and sauces. It's 49 cents an ounce and if you're not careful, those BIG bowels can hit you in the wallet pretty hard. So, be mindful of filling the bowl to no more than half, and choosing lightweight toppings and you can have a great treat for $3.50 or less.

I'm foreseeing walking trips to Bazo's next door and a yogurt for dessert.

This is their fourth day open. There was a DJ spinnin' tunes outside tonight.

There is an "Orange Leaf" yogurt shop and a "Sweet Frog" yogurt shop in the new strip mall on Veterans Parkway in Clarksville (between I-65 and Walmart).

BTW, there's a third yogurt place ("Sweet n Swirly") a half block down the street, near McAlisters.

Could it be one of those?

I find it hard to believe, though, that there's enough business to keep all three of these alive for long.

Nope. All those places have good signage. :)

Its hard for a native of St. Louis to get excited over frozen yogurt having grown up on Ted Drewes.

I'm really hoping that's a typo.

Sweet n Swirly is local and, in my opinion, has the most visible space of the 3 on Veterans' Parkway. They also have truly non-dairy sorbet available, not just lactose free. So they get my vote for the ones on Veterans. :)

I agree about Sweet N Swirly's better visibility. My guess is whether there is enough potential support for three similar operations in such close proximity to each other. Not to mention the Ice Cream & Pie Kitchen directly across the street.

Leah, glad you were able to solve the mystery.
