Single Platform

by Alison Hanover » Mon Apr 09, 2012 5:05 pm

Has anyone had any dealings with the company SIngle Platform? It is a company that works with Urban Spoon, Four Square, Yellow pages and Google to publish a restaurants menu, opening hours etc. They want me to sign up, but before the speel had ended my phone battery died. It is $395 for the year.

Can't you DIY? How often does your menu change?

We looked into it as well, but when I resisted realizing that for $400 a year we can better spend those dollars and make those changes ourselves if we take a small amount of time, their customer service went on the defense and were quite rude. I would be skeptical of a company who's customer service operates in this way.

My menu doesn't change. Well, hardly. I didn't quite grasp the concept I guess. BY DIY do you mean going onto Urban Spoon etc and make my own entry? I have already done that with Urban Spoon. Yeah, I don't think I am going to do it thought. I know he is going to be pretty difficult to get rid of!

Sounds way too pricey to me, and I always wonder about startuos like that.

Of course,I'm not wild about Urbanspoon or Yelp either. In the digital field, they're sort of like chains trying to mine profits from the locals ...

Yeah, I am not going to do it. He is 'running' it by his boss to see if AJ's is what they;re looking for and will call me on Wednesday. I am not looking forward to telling him no. When he initally called, he mentioned Google and I told him I wasn't interested, hung up on him. Well, he called me straight back and asked why I wasn't interested in getting more business. I set up a time for him to call and take me through the program. I looked at their website, sent him an email asking him for the bottom line, ie how much it costs as I didn't want to waste his time or mine. He sent me an email back saying he would not be wasting my time and it depended, it could be free. Well, after half an hour today, he eventually gives me the price. I told him I couldn;t afford it as I had done a lot of newspaper advertising and bought a flavor burst machine. Just then, my battery died on the phone. I sent him an email saying I hadn't hung up on him, my phone had died! He sent me an email saying he would call me aftter speaking to his boss on Wednesday. It looks like I might have to hand up on him for real on Wednesday lol

We use Single Platform for both Corbett's and Equus & Jack's Lounge. I dealt with a very nice rep named Erica and have been very pleased with service they provide. It works great for us b/c our menus change frequently, esp at Corbett's, and Single Platform ensures our menus are current across multiple platforms. They have increased their annual fee though since we signed up 6 months ago.

I use it for Busta Grill. My web presence on google has increased yes, but I could have used Open Menu for free to get my menu online. I thought I would give it a shot since I had the $$ at the time and my business relies heavily on the web for people to find me. I have seen more customers come up to the stand mentioning they found me on Urbanspoon which has been nice. Business has increased this season but I don't know how much is directly related to Single Platform.
