HBC-Shelbyville is moving!

There are some big changes in store for St Matthews!

HBC-Shelbyville Road (at 4123 Shelbyville Road) is closing on Friday March 30 2012. We’ve had a great few years at this location! Some things we’ve realized though is that the cafe is too small, and the drive-thru is somewhat weird to get in to (and out of). A Southern Indiana ice cream place (Chiller’s) is taking over our spot, bringing their tasty ice cream to this side of the river!

HBC Team Airstream – we have spent many nights and weekends gutting a 1963 Airstream and making it the best mobile coffee shop ever! We are parking the Airstream on the corner of Shelbyville Road and Fairmeade Road, between Swope Fiat and Liquor Barn (only 1/2 mile away from the current HBC-Shelbyville Road) for the spring & summer. We are really excited to show off our Airstream – it should open Monday April 2 at 6am! You can check our pictures of the renovation on Louisville Street Food’s Facebook page.

The NEW HBC-Shelbyville Road (on the corner of Shelbyville Road & Fairmeade Road) should open in late summer 2012, at the same spot as the Airstream will be. This location will have a spacious cafe and easy, convenient drive-thru. We really like this new location, and think that it’ll be a great shop!

Uh - between Swope Fiat and Liquor Barn? Aren't those two right next to each other?

Just noticed a HBC coming soon sign in the new strip mall behind Zaxby's along Blankenvaker.

I stopped in that Liquor Barn yesterday, and you're both right. When Fairemeade crosses Shelbyville it continues on for a hunred yards or so into the very small space between Liquor Barn and the Swope lot. The Airstream is wedged into that small space, but the Liquor Barn parking lot and that part of the Swope lot are so large, it's quite accessible.

Yeah, I figured there was room for the Airstream there, but where's the new HBC store going?
