Jack's Lounge Rocks!

by Deb Hall » Fri Mar 23, 2012 9:20 pm

All,

We went to Jack's with our 8 year old, and are trying to figure out why we haven't been more often. I'd forgotten how great the food is: We started with frogs legs- perfectly fried in a light flavorful batter served with an aioli. Aiden had the amazing cheeseburger ( perfectly cooked on a pretzel bun, great flavor on the meat- he declared it his "favorite burger EVER". ) . Brian had the pot roast- great comfort food. I had the fried chicken, and oh, is it fantastic! I'm not a big "fried foods" person, but this fried chicken is perfectly fried with a beautifully crispy and flavorful crust. I'm not sure how Tavis does it, but the man has some serious frying skills. It was truly the best fried chicken I've ever had!

Already stuffed, we couldn't pass on the Irish trio of desserts ( made with Bailey's, Guiness and Jamieson's, I think ) - so we ordered one to- go. We ate it the following night and it was fantastic- great flavor for each component and excellent counterpoints for each other. ( LOVED whatever the caramel-y sauce was!)

Service was perfect from my good friend Gary- who personifies all the best in a professional server. All told an excellent meal, and at a very reasonable price for this level of food. If you haven't been to Jack's lately- go back- they are doing great things there.

 Ah shucks- thanks.
It was a joy to see Aiden enjoying such a grown up meal- reminded me of me oh so many years ago.

It is such a joy to work with Dean and the entire staff at Equus/Jack's, and I love the guests. I have never worked anywhere where the guests become friends, and it is a regular occurance at Jack's.

Tavis is a treasure- it is so exciting to serve his food. So young and so creative! Wait till you all see his new menu coming inApril- amazing group of small bites that no one else in town has.

Thanks for all the kind words- see you all soon I hope.

What a coincidence - I was just sitting here thinking how delicious my dinner last night at Jack's was! We sat on the beautiful new patio and enjoyed the fried chicken dinner and the almond-crusted corvina. Our server was Greg, who I don't think I've seen before, but we also haven't been in a couple of months. The service was flawless - he was friendly, knowledgeable about specials, and somehow had the ability to magically appear just as I needed to order another drink.

I've absolutely never had a bad meal at Jack's, nor have I ever had bad service. Between my husband & I and the friends we usually go to Jack's with, we've had everything on the menu, most of it more than once. One of us is a picky eater and invariably asks to swap a side or two, and the staff are always more than willing to make it happen with nary an upcharge in sight. It's a special place and I feel lucky I'm only a couple miles away.

I love Jack's!

I could make a list of all the things I like about this institution and you'd be reading all day...

Perhaps I should write about what I don't like about this place:

  :D
