I pic ked some up at the farmers market at Beargrass Christian Church this summer. It's from Campground Acres. "Pure homemade Sorghum". No website or address. Just a phone number: 502-252-5751

A Google look-up on the number reveals: Travis Burns 388 Campground Rd, Bloomfield, KY 40008

HTH!

The Depot in Glendale, KY has very good Sorghum. I imagine theirs is Amish. You may want to give Tony a call and see where he gets his supply. 270-369-6000

We took the kids to get pumpkins at Huber's this weekend, and they had some. I'm not sure who made it.

I get my sorghum at the State Fair every year, but I can't imagine that it would be that hard to find any time. The batch I got this year is unreal. Such complex flavor.

On our way to Our Best last weekend, someone was selling it at a roadside stand in their yard. Looked intriguing, but we didn't stop. Let me know if you find some good stuff locally!

Ned,

The very best sorghum is made by The Townsend's in Jeffersonville, Ky. You can give them a call @ (859) 498-4142

We tote home 4 cases every year from the Morgan County Sorghum Festival in West Liberty. If you truly love sorghum circle the last full weekend in September on your calendar for next year. Everything you can imagine about sorghum is going on. They have 2 mills in operation during the festival but, hands down, the Townsend's make the best.

We used to make it on my Grandparent's farm in Shelbyville as a child. It was a family festival. The kids would all ride the ponies that ground up the sugar cane and we would pit cook a pig.

I miss those days.

That sounds so cool! I really miss big family gatherings like that.

Jay; sorghum is a dark, very flavorful syrup made from the sweet variety of sorghum cane, a cereal grass that flourishes in Kentucky.

It can be used as a substitute anytime that you would use honey or regular syrup. It is great on biscuits. Some folks will stir a little softened butter into their sorghum to cut the strong flavor before putting it on a biscuit.

My dad eats it out of the jar, by the spoonful. Yuck.

Most grocery stores have it. Owensboro's own Moonlite BBQ's brand is in just about every Kroger in the area. You may not be able to get some of the more obscure stuff that you can get in Hancock but Moonlite's is not bad and they are usually at the festival as well so....
