Heating/toasting sandwiches

by Sara R » Fri Mar 09, 2012 12:58 pm

I picked up a plain Jason's Deli turkey sandwich to go last week and when I got home, I found that it had been toasted. I did not request for my sandwich to be toasted, nor do I care for sandwiches that are toasted. I prefer my bread soft and my deli meat cold (I find that deli meat gets dry when heated). Yesterday, I ordered a turkey sandwich from Cafe Lou Lou and when it was delivered, found that it had been toasted as well! The menu said nothing about the sandwich being served warm, being toasted/grilled, etc.

Is this the new normal? Should I have to request that my deli sandwiches be served cold? I assumed that unless otherwise stated, deli sandwiches are served cold. Apparently not!

Sara,

That's annoying. On Jason's menu, almost all of the sandwiches are noted as " toasted" or "grilled" . But the regular sandwiches don't specify. I guess their normal procedure is to heat them, but I wouldn't have expected that either. :(
