Frascelli's (Crestwood) moved to Murphy Lane - Westport Rd

by Steve P » Mon Mar 05, 2012 2:38 pm

I was out running errands here in Garage Logic this morning and made the discovery that Frascelli's in Crestwood was gone, apparently as the result of a rent/landlord issue. Anyway, the lady who cuts my hair said Frascelli's moved to the Murphy Lane - Westport Rd area (4113 Murphy Lane, the old Shannon's Bar/Two Buck Cafe location).

For those who have never dined a Frascelli's, their NY Style pizza has it's fans (not up there with Pappalinos, etc but fairly good none the less) and their burgers and deli sandwiches are generally pretty darn good. Service at the Crestwood location was always kind of "Waffle House-ish" but the food was generally served hot and with a smile. Prices are competitive.

Welllll... and here I was thinking that the addition of that new Southeast church there in Crestwood Station was going to be good for their business.
Bummer.

While I wish them well there, from your description I think that when I'm in the area I'll continue to drive 100 yards down the road to Rooties.

If anything the addition of Southeast Christian actually HURT the businesses in the plaza (I've heard this directly from 2 different merchants in the plaza). When the church first opened the parking lot was in really bad shape and parking places were limited. The church holds four different services on Sunday, so the message the three early services received from the pastor was something to the effect "Please don't dawdle in the parking lot, we need your parking place for the next service". Now that the parking lot has been repaired people are still in the habit of not "dawdling".

Andrew, no...really you should check Frascelli's out. The food is not -bad- at all and I didn't mean to imply that. It's just that one of the primary reasons we would dine there was the convenience factor (they were only 3 miles down the road). Now that they've moved down by the Gene Snyder, they aren't as convenient and as a result they are going to compete with places like Rooties...or Old Chicago, etc, etc for my dining dollar.
