Great meal at Bank Street Brewhouse

by Dan L. » Thu Mar 01, 2012 8:01 pm

This is a little belated but my wife and I had an outstanding experience at Bank Street Brewhouse recently. A couple of weeks ago we had a rare opportunity to have a quiet breakfast together while my sister watched our little one. We debated Ramsi's or Toast and ended up settling on Toast in New Albany. When we arrived they had a long wait. As we drove away considering options other than Ramsi's we saw BSB. Remembering that they offered a bloody mary bar on Sundays we decided to give it a shot. We have eaten dinner at BSB several times and always enjoyed our food and drink but the brunch stood out as the best experience we've had yet. The bloody mary was good and the food was excellent. Thanks to Roger and staff for giving us this option on the sunny side. Next time you will be first when we consider Sunday brunch.

Thank you for the kind words Dan. I'll pass them along to Chef Matt and staff. I finally had the pleasure of giving our brunch a try. I had The Atnip, weisenberger grits topped with two sunny-side up eggs. Brewers crack!

I have to agree about the brunch. My husband and I wandered in a couple Sundays ago and sat at the bar. Steve (I sure think that was his name!) was great about answering our questions about the available beers (I love the Saison, btw) and we ended up with a couple growlers at the end of the meal as well.
After confirming we could still get a bowl of frites as an appetizer, we both got steak and eggs for our entree, and it was phenomenal. It was served with a potato hash, mushrooms, carrots, and brussel sprouts and a demiglace and topped with a poached egg. The egg was nice and runny, the steak perfectly seasoned and medium rare. But the real show stopper for me was the brussel sprouts. Neither my husband nor I care for them, and we both chomped through our servings. They were clearly fresh, cooked better than I've ever had before, and seasoned just right.
We've already made plans with friends for another brunch soon, and we can't wait to come back.
