Best places to do Sunday Brunch

by Steve Magruder » Mon Oct 29, 2007 8:16 pm

OK... we all know the Bristol is on a lot of people's lists... so where else are good places to do Sunday Brunch?

I was riding around with a friend on Sunday and we were drawing blanks as to places we could go. The next time, it would be nice if he had a good list to draw from.

Thanks!

That's funny, as those were the only other two places that came to our mind, and both were too busy when we went by either one. Thanks at any rate.

Limestone for a good brunch with decent pricing but white tablecloth, nice decor. Bourbon mash pancakes/waffles to order, seafood bar, salads, nice hot dishes, omelet station, wonderful desserts.

If weather nice, Captain's Quarters is very nice; less so if you have to be inside.

For the best in the city (tho pricy) go to the Seelbach.

Jade Palace for dim sum (not true buffet, but sort of).

Old Stone Inn for old-fashioned KY brunch. We thought it had too many starches, but most like it. Same for Science Hill (more formal).

East End outside of the Watterson, but not afraid to travel for good grub

Couple of my favorites

Oakroom at the Seelbach.....Very elegant, and always wonderful, but a bit pricey at $29

Cunninghams.....good food, and a classic Louisville tradition.

Mojito's --- Buffet or not, still a good place for brunch
If life's a Banquet, what's with all the Tofu?

Cheers!

I've done Capitan's Quarters a number of times and like it a lot. I agree its better when you can sit outside. Cunninghams always has good food also.

Goose Creek Diner

by Doug W » Tue Oct 30, 2007 11:23 am

Goose Creek Diner has a good Sunday Brunch. Get there early though - the closer to noon the mosre crowded they get. While they do not have an Omelet station, they will make one for you in the back.

They usually have live Jazz playing as well.

I haven't been since Cafe Emily became 60 West but I understand they are still doing their brunch. It's very good.... nice made to order omlette and pancake station as well as a nice choice of traditional brunch entrees. Both my daughters and I have enjoyed it numerous times.

My new favorite is the North End Cafe for the corned beef hash. This may sound lame, but I also really like Caesar's Sunday brunch.

The corned beef hash at North End is amazing...
probably my favorite item on any of their menus. (which reminds me i need to go back sometime soon.)

another overlooked bargain for Sunday brunch is at August Moon.
It's a limited version of their normal menu, but all entrees are $9.25 (with included choice of soup or spring roll), and the portion sizes are the same.
Apps are all $6.

I ate there this past Sunday and it really hit the spot, not to mention a bit of personal nostalgia for me.

wash it all down with a pointsetta or bloody mary!

their brunch menu is online here.

I put vegetables in your desserts, white chocolate with your fish and other nonsense stuff that you think shouldn't make sense, but coax the nonsense into something that makes complete sense in your mouth. Just open your mind, mouth and eat.

I forgot about Volare... I believe they have a Sunday brunch. Pricey but good.

The Rivue (on top of the Galt House) has an excellent brunch.
