Village Anchor and Varanese

by Mike D » Tue Feb 21, 2012 12:06 pm

I made my first trip to the Village Anchor last night for the Animal Care Society fundraiser, and I really liked the place. I was by myself so sat at the bar and enjoyed a Bell's Hopslam and the mussels app. Some of the best mussels that I've ever had, and the baguette was outstanding. I liked the room, and the bartender (wish I'd gotten his name) was very professional and attentive. The menu looked interesting and we'll be back for dinner.

Then I met my spouse and a friend from Southern California for a late evening at Varanese. As always, we left extremely satisfied. Rogue Dead Guy drafts for her and him, Tanqueray and tonic for me. Then we shared an app, a salad and two desserts, and everything was perfect.

Thanks for the reports, Mike. I like both these places quite a bit.
