"Dutch scientists have used stem cells to create strips of muscle tissue with the aim of producing the first lab-grown hamburger later this year.

The aim of the research is to develop a more efficient way of producing meat than rearing animals.

I wouldn't want to, regardless of whether or not it's considered "vegetarian."

I would just as soon have it produced in a lab as opposed to by steriod-and-antibiotic stuffed cows wading in 4 feet of their own excrement on an industrial feed lot.

I suppose if they can genetically manufacture the meat in the laboratory they can also make changes to give it whatever flavor they want! Could provide for some interesting permutations!

A news report this morning puts the first "test tube" burger out of (most) of our budgets. They are looking to sell this baby for 350K. I wonder if that is with the bun or without ?

Need to make artificial rib bones for the ersatz baby backs... need special glue so they aren't FOB !

Cow stem cells are used as the starter for the culture, so strict vegetarians wouldn't eat this synthetic meat.
