I've visited the current Party Source store, and I think it's already larger than the Springhurst Liquor Barn. After they finish this 30,000-square-foot expansion it's going to be immense. I'm looking forward to the 40-tap craft beer bar they're planning.

Note that Party Source is local; they are the same folks that owned the Party Source at Springhurst- in what is now the Liquor Barn space.

Yeah, the two companies were actually somewhat related, as I recall. The Party Source guy is from Northern Kentucky and had stores there and here; Liquor Barn was a big Lexington firm. Party Source basically sold their Louisville business to Liquor Barn, which put up new signs, but it wasn't even as much of a change as closing one store and then opening a different store.

One thing that doesn't often get mentioned when talking up J.J. are the number of events and classes they hold. This past October they held their (annual) Fiery Food Show and there are always beer and wine tastings, cooking classes, cigar "tastings", etc, etc. It's just a really fun place to visit. We love it.

Being able to "get it here" and being able to "get it" (ALL) at one massive food alter are two different things. But I see yer point. I guess for us...as much as anything else...our being Ohio natives (Buckeyes) and all, it's just an opportunity to support our local businesses.
