His/Hers Sunday School

by Stephen D » Thu Feb 02, 2012 1:19 pm

The next event in the Sunday School Series features the Heaven Hill Portfolio. Owned by the Shapiras, these are great people with some great products. Locals, they really do have a great story. Speaking will be Michael 'Bubba' Hester, Regional Manager for Ky and Tn and a good 'ol boy. He has one of those accents that makes you smile at being Kentuckian!

The format will pay homage to Valentine's Day- 4 light courses paired with an option of his/her cocktails. We're dubbing this 'sugar and spice.' Ladies generally lean toward sweet/sour drinks, while gentlemen prefer spice/leather etc. Both cocktails are designed to pair with the food in thier own interesting ways and the spirits used will also find thier way into the cuisine.

Here's what we have, minus the surprises and a proper name:

Harmony- the place where they meet (how romantic!)
Lunazul Tequilla, Harmonie Liqueur, Lemon, Salted Lemon Pop Rocks, Illuminated
Drunken Avacado and Ahi Tuna Nachos

Soup
Burnett's: Sweet Tomato-Cucumber Bloody Mary vs Spicy Sichuan Bloody Mary
Smoked Tomato Bisque with Charred Corn

Salad
Elijah Craig 12 Year: Pama Whiskey Sour, Sumac Sugar Rim vs The Barnyard
Tea Smoked Duck, Walnut, Chevre', Pomegrante Vinaigrette

Entree
Dubonnet: Dualling Wine Cocktails of White and Red, Scented Vessels
Napoleon of Chicken Frickasee, Portobello, Skillet Potato, Dubonnet Creme, Balsamic-Asparagus

Dessert- the couple reunites (how romantic!)
O'Mara's: Irish Creme Solid Cocktail
Orange-Chocolate Cake, Pepperflake Ganache'

Coffee
French Press- H.C. Valentine Dark Ethiopian Blend
Accoutrements

Chef Brandon Lewis

TEA SMOKED DUCK?! You're killin' me, dude. Everything looks amazing as always.

I'm on-call that weekend or I would definitely make the trip for this little shindig.

As my dear 'toon friend, Mr. D. Duck, would proclaim "Daroool, Daroool, Darool"
If life's a Banquet, what's with all the Tofu?

Cheers!
