Announcing: APRON, Inc.

by GaryF » Mon Jan 30, 2012 7:38 pm

As always Robin, thanks for letting me post this.

I am very happy to announce the formation of APRON, Inc., a non for profit organization designed to be a financial safety net for the Louisville Independant Restaurant community.

A small but dedicated group of individuals have put this together in the last few months and feel that it's time to let the world know.

In the upcoming weeks we will be getting in touch with restaurant owners and mangers to offer more information and let you know how you can help.
We also hope to meet with restaurant staff to explain our mission and tell you how you can volunteer.

Please "Like" us on Facebook: APRON, Inc

PRESS RELEASE
APRON, Inc. was founded in 2011 by a group of individuals with ties to the local restaurant community. Apron supporters include owners, servers, chefs and others concerned about our local independent food and beverage service workers. They realize that independent restaurant employees may be susceptible to financial distress in times of crisis.

Mission Statement
The mission of APRON, Inc. is to provide temporary, limited financial relief to professional food and beverage industry workers in the Louisville, KY metro area who work at locally owned establishments and who are experiencing financial distress due to illness, injury or other issues. Food service professionals who have suffered an accident, family emergency, criminal act committed against such person or other catastrophic event are eligible for assistance.
APRON, Inc. has filed with the IRS for 501(c)(3) status as a charitable organization and expects this to be issued in 2012.
APRON, Inc. is an emergency assistance fund and should not substitute for insurance of any kind.

As an enthusiastic early supporter, local restaurant entrepreneur Dean Corbett commented: “The local restaurant community is a very large family. As with any caring family we work together to help our own. I’m proud to be a supporter of APRON, Inc. and urge you to financially assist this worthwhile endeavor.”

For more information on donating, volunteering or otherwise supporting this worthwhile group please contact APRON, Inc.

Nicely done Gary! It has been a pleasure working with you and all of the fine volunteers to get APRON up and running. I feel as though this thing is going to be HUGE and other food communities will soon follow suit.
We cannot do this alone, we are looking for donations in many forms and volunteers to help with fundraising events.
Thanks everyone for checking us out!!! Remember, please "LIKE" us on Facebook.

Thanks for posting Gary! It's very exciting that we can finally start telling everyone about this project! Thank you Dean Corbett for giving us our first donation and supporting what we believe is going to be very helpful to those in the restaurant industry in need.
BUT as Luca said, we will need support, donations, volunteers and space to do fundraisers. Keep an eye out for us and look out for Dean's challenge to get involved too!!

Gary thanks for getting the word out and for being such a great President! You've kept us focused and on track as we worked on this for the last 8 months! I also want to thank Ed V. and his wife Cindy, who worked extemely hard at getting all the documents worded and filed correctly, without them we wouldn't even be close to being ready at this point. And as Dawn said it's wonderful to be able to talk about it now and get everybody in the restaurant community involved! We are going to need a lot of help and support from you guys but it's going to be a blast. We are planning some great events to help raise some of the funds needed to help YOU so please take a minute to go to our Facebook page and LIKE us and SHARE with your friends so we can spread the word quicker, our first event is in June!
Robin could you please post this at the top so that everyone has a chance to see it.

Dang, this sounds cool. I'm in no position to donate, but I'd be willing to volunteer at a fundraiser or two. Awesome stuff.

I'm bringing this back up because:

Tarek Hamada, managing partner and general manager of Volare has graciously donated $200 out of his own pocket, and in addition to Chef Dean's challange is also challanging other managers to step up to the plate! Thank you Tarek!
We are now actively seeking donations for APRON, INC, help us help you and yours.
Please LIKE us on facebook and help us spread the word!

SAVE THE DATE! June 3rd, 3-8 pm @ Theater Square Marketplace
The first APRON fundraiser will be a Speakeasy, great food, drink, dress, music & FUN. This event is for resturant employees/fans so that we may support our own.
