Krogers - Convenient, affordable, good selection, products are typically of good quality and (!!) UNION employees.

We also shop at Crestwood Market for convenience and the occasional last minute items.

Kroger for most of the same reasons Steve mentioned.

Whole Foods for hardered to find stuff and I can drink beer while I shop.

I am new here in Louisville so I have made it to Kroger. It has been a good basic grocery store. Large organic section, etc. I was thrilled when my husband got hired in Louisville that a Trader Joe's had just opened. I buy a lot of things from them.

I was just told that in the Highlands that I should head to the Valu Mart and I want to check out the Fresh Market. Whole Foods I can take or leave. What are people's favorite Ethnic markets? Any place to get fresh tortillas here?

I'd like more than two choices since we shop around. I'd say we do most of our shopping at farmers' markets when we can, then with a preference for Rainbow Blossom, Burger's and Lotsa Pasta, because they're local and because they have cool stuff. Valu when we need a bigger store, or Whole Foods and Trader Joe's, even though they're corporate, at least they're cool.

We do hit up Kroger for staples. And yes, as Steve mentions, at least they're union, although I don't see much evidence that it's a strong union. When I asked the clerk scanning 487 cans of cat food individually if she wasn't worried about carpal tunnel, she said, sure, but management won't let them scan one and multiply. Too worried about losing 50 cents to error, I guess. :P

Valu for most plus TJ with a side of Grasshopper, Burger's and a touch of Kroger. A week's worth of shopping involves two trips to Valu (Mid-City), one each TJ and Grasshopper p/u. Kroger when I'm by one and need something. Not uncommon to hit three spots in a day.

Still only two votes? This isn't very scientific. ;-)

Early responders, you may want to re-vote...When I changed the options, all of the existing votes disappeared.

we get as much as possible at the douglas farmers market or the grey st farmers market (when it's open). we continue to go to whole foods not only for the quality and beer drinking, but mainly for the customer service.they must treat employees pretty well judging by the smiles and friendly, helpfull attitudes of every employee i've dealt with there. i just don't seem to get that anywhere else here.

As many others have stated two choices really isn't enough but I will comply. Also, while I voted for Kroger my reasoning is quite different than those mentioned by earlier posters. Our main reason for shopping there convenience with selection and price following.

Dedicated Aldi shoppers here. With a smidgen of TJ and Kroger's for convenience and to gas up the vehicles. I think Valu is expensive.
