J. Gumbo's Central Station- MOVED

by MarieP » Thu Jan 26, 2012 12:29 am

A friend and I went to the J. Gumbo's in Central Station, only to find them closed with a sign that says they are moving to Fern Valley Road (didn't get an address).

Is the Poplar Level location good? I've liked the Lyndon and 4th St. Live locations (and the Central Station one). Haven't yet been to the one in Clifton.

Can anyone confirm were the location will be on Fern Valley Road? I'm guessing around I-65 since it's such a high traffic area.

I'm sorry to hear this. The old location was a semi-regular Sunday lunch option for us, but the new location won't be convenient. And since the weekend brunch they've started doing at the Clifton location near our house makes going in for a normal lunch awkward, we may not get to enjoy the Drunken Chicken as often. :(

Our owner at the Central Station location is moving that store to Fern Vally Rd (no address acquired yet). I apologize for any inconvenience.

Alex does a wonderful job over at the Poplar Level Rd store. She has made a lot of improvements and is always happy to see new faces!

Do you know what general vicinity? Fern Valley Road spans a pretty long stretch

Is the move due to lack of business or traffic at Central Station? If so, I'm surprised that one so close to UofL couldn't make it.

There are a number of factors that went into this decision, obviously I am not at liberty to discuss some of those, but I will say that the location in question had its advantages and its disadvantages, particularly during certain times of the year like the month of May, and that as always overhead is a constant concern.

Also, the amount of demand for a more southern location made the move a desirable one.
