Dessert In The 'Hood

by Mike D » Wed Jan 25, 2012 10:59 am

So, what to do if you live in Crescent Hill and get a late-evening craving for dessert? For us, it's a quick jaunt down Frankfort Avenue to Sweet Surrender. Nothing against Comfy Cow and the Pie Kitchen, but Sweet Surrender puts out consistently great creations, with enough variety that there's almost always something new to try. Although the "Manhattan" and I have more than a passing acquaintance.

I'm nowhere near your 'hood, but I find excuses to drive across town from the far East End. Sweet Surrender has seriously fantastic baked goods. :D That salted caramel- coconut-chocolate thing is the stuff I dream about, and the mocha meringue buttercream is my other fav. :D

Awww. Thanks Mike and Deb! You put a nice big smile on mine and my staffs' faces today. :D

This year is actually Sweet Surrender's 25th Anniversary! As such, we have all kinds of fun things in the works to help celebrate throughout the year. Currently, we are offering our 6" cakes for just $25 through the end of January. We will also have small $0.25 desserts sporadically throughout the year (the other weekend we had mini banana pudding and strawberry shortcake). Lots of other fun things are already in the works for later in the year. If you want to keep informed about them, please take a moment to "Like" us on facebook. http://www.facebook.com/sweetsurrenderdessertcafe

I have been the owner for just over 6 years now. But I started working for Debbie (the original owner) way back in 1997. So I guess personally, it's just my 15th anniversary!
