Irish Rover

by Mike D » Mon Jan 23, 2012 10:39 pm

We are so lucky to have a place like the Rover in the neighborhood. Spouse got home from work at 6:00 and had to be at a meeting in Clifton at 7:00. Off to the Rover for perfectly-prepared Fish and Chips (me) and Rover Salmon (her). Bell's Two Hearted for her and Dogfish Head IPA for me. Efficient, attentive service got us out the door at about 6:55.

I am quite fond of the Rover, and would add that it's one of the places that became a much more enjoyable destination for me after the no-smoking law came in.

Robin, a month after the smoking ban I saw Michael Reidy and I asked if he'd seen a dip in business. He looked around at the packed restaurant and said, 'What dip?'

Totally agree. We've been going there since before it was the Rover. (Another Place Sandwich Shop I think.) We always enjoy the food, the quick service and love that there's no smoking. Frankly, we love the no smoking everywhere, but especially the places that used to make us walk thru the smoking area to get to the non-smoking area.

We too have been going to The Rover since it first opened, and were there Friday night - excellent as always.

LOVE the Rover. One of the best places to eat in the city. Killer Fish n' Chips, and those Cordon Bleu Fritters are made with 100% pure crack.
