Crab Feast?

by Ray Griffith » Thu Jan 19, 2012 3:11 am

Does anyone have a recommendation for a restaurant that serves crab?

.....perhaps a locally owned place?

I dislike (I'll just use their initials) JOE'S CRAB SHACK and I'm not too crazy about Red Lobster either.

:? ...I've been known to consume close to my own weight in crab at those "all you can eat" nights that were popular back in "the day". Hold the salad, hold the potato, just keep bringing that crab...Gluttony at it's finest.

I'm not really a gambler per se but when we lived back in "the cities" one of the indian (errrrr native American) casinos used to do an "all you can eat" crab buffet, maybe it would be worth checking Horseshoe or Belterra to see if they offer something similar.

as a practicing degenerate, I can confirm that Friday night is All You Can Eat Crab Leg night at the Paula Dean buffet at Horseshoe.

The crab legs are fine. I cannot endorse the rest of the buffet, although there are a few edible items. I remember enjoying the grilled oysters(although not much else)

If money is no object, king crab at Ruby's would be a semi-local option.

Just heard from a friend of mine that Belterra does an all you can eat Crab feast for like $30. He said he quaffed up $400 worth of the stuff and that it was really good.

Thanks all. So, does the Belterra buffet have just Snow crab? Both King and Snow would be just dandy.

I would suggest going to the Seafood Connection and getting your crab feast. Grab a bag and head home....pretty simple to prepare. We usually grab a bag on our way out of town.

You could also go for lunch and get a Chessie sandwich!

YES!!! That's the way to do it. The best crab feast I've ever had involved a coffee table, newspaper, and king crab legs from Seafood Connection. You don't have to do anything to them except thaw and crack, and who needs to be in public with crab fluids cascading off of your elbows?! Accoutrements are easily procured at Paul's across the street.

Another place I've enjoyed inexpensive crab legs was Hooters. I would definitely do that again as long as there were wings, a pitcher of swill, and a hangover involved.

While there seem to be fewer Chinese buffets every day, on weekends they "usually" seem to have crab legs of some type available . . . call around!

Thanks, I'll try that in the future. However, sometimes I prefer to be served in a bar/restaurant atmosphere.

Only if Louisville had something like this;

If you're ever on a long enough layover around Atlanta/Hartsfield, I highly recommend Spondivit's. The hotel vans will take you.

Got a buddy from Chattanooga who LIVES at this place. Says it is the bees-frickin-knees.
