Daytime Dining in Jeffersonville......

by Becky M » Wed Jan 18, 2012 3:45 am

i try to go on a "date" every once in a while with a certain little man that i know. Since my other ones are in school and i need to start playing taxi around 3pm.... it is a good time for us to have some one-on-one time. i am kind of at a loss of where to go in Jeffersonville. of course this boy would be happy with a burger and fries but i would like something different.

ideas?

I've never been, but I heard the Come Back Inn was really good.

Come Back Inn is very good.

Puerto Vallarta is good Tex-Mex in the Quadrangle.

For down home food Ann's on the River serves good inexpensive fare.

Rocky's and Buckhead's on the river as well as The Bristol.

If you want to grab something tasty and carry it back home to enjoy with your "special fella", check out Holy Smokes Pitmaster BBQ. Jimmy sets up his smoker at the Thornton's on 10th Street about 3 days a week for the lunch hour (11 AM to 2 PM?). You can check his Facebook page to find out when he's planning on being there or just keep an eagle eye out for his big smoker rig and Texas flag.

My grandchildren love to be taken to Schimpff's Confectionery in Jeffersonville. http://www.schimpffs.com/tours.html It does include a deli that makes sandwiches.

How about Mai's Thai? Something interesting for Mom, and some delicious fried rice for the kiddo, if he's not too adventurous.

Thanks for all the recommendations everyone. We moved over to the back end of Jeff, over by meijer.... and i hardly venture back "into town"..... i had forgotten all the places we have downtown. this will definitely keep things eventful for us for a while.

the only places of the ones mentioned that we have been to is Puerto Vallarta and Mai's Thai. both pretty good... havent been to Mai's Thai in a while... might have to be our next outing or Ann's that sounds welcoming.

oh and Robin... this boy is adventurous. All i have to tell him is "it's like candy" or "kind of like an apple" and he will try it...lol i feel bad lying to him about it..... but he is pretty good about trying new foods..... very unlike his older brother, whew.

OK... so what's so bad about Hooters that it has to be deleted? My kids have gone there since they were tiny. What can I say? They love curly fries and we don't have them where we live.

I really like their candies but have stopped buying them. The staff at the candy counter is genuinely unfriendly and makes us want to feel "honored' that they will wait on us and take our $$. After the 4th time this happened, they are officially on my "do not return" list.
