RYE on East Market St.

by John N » Mon Jan 16, 2012 2:05 pm

How is it? I wanted to go this weekend, but the host said it was an hour and a half wait, so my group went with Harvest on Market instead. (hopefully they'll reconsider their current no-reservation policy)

(BTW--Taco Punk is excellent, we went to the soft opening on Sunday).

Amazing. The food was just fantastic. We went on Saturday, ate at the bar. We tried a little of everything and they are probably going to get super sick of seeing me in there. Bartenders were hit or miss on their drink making skills and they got the pacing of our meal off a bit. Other than that, I had zero complaints. The food more than made up for it.

Finally got in after several attempts. Curse the reservations for parties of 6 or more only scene. We tried several small plates and a corned beef sandwich. Falls into the category of what I'd call a bar with food, but with not nearly as much variety or flair as 732 Social had. Pacing left a lot to be desired. A bottle of wine we ordered when we first sat down arrived as the last of four plates was being served. Also tried some interesting drinks while waiting for our table. We'd probably return for them, but not for a meal.

Stopped tonight - I have to say I thought the food, drinks, and service were amazing. In fact I will say that I thought the food was every bit as good as 732 - and that's not a knock on 732. Pacing was perfect. Rabbit terrine was rich and yummy, the whole trout was as good as I've ever had. A seriously great addition to the local scene.
