Windy City to reopen in early 2012

by MikeG » Thu Jan 12, 2012 2:05 pm

Website is gone, phone numebr leads to a full voicemail box. I knwo the owner had tried to hand off the business to someone else who did poorly but had taken it back over. I guess it was too much for him to handle from Chicago? Anyone know the scoop?

I am kind of a big deal.

I meant to post this question weeks/months ago. We drive by there fairly regularly and it appeared closed. Don't know any specifics, but it's been shuttered for a while.

Yeah I was bummed to learn of it today as I was trying to order my going away lunch at work. We were left scrambling to get Old Chicago for that style pizza.

I drive past there on my way home most nights and had wondered the same thing recently, but I did find this post on Facebook:

"On June 1st, I leased out the business to some long-time customers. As of November 1st, I have taken the business back over. However, before re opening the pizzeria, I am required to bring the restaurant up to building and health codes. This process will take two to three months to complete. I anticipate reopening in early 2012. I apologize for our recent confusion and look forward to seeing you soon. Matthew"

Excellent! Thanks, Tracy! I'll edit the headline so it won't scare people.

I made that mistake once and found nothing at Old Chicago even remotely like what Windy City offered. This was a couple years ago so maybe they've changed but I was seriously unimpressed with the pizza at OC.

Thats because Old Chicago is really "Old Boulder Colorado I want to be from Chicago Pizza Company".. it's like the difference between Norton Commons and Beechmont... I'll take my answer off the air Johnny.

Anybody have any news on Windy City Pizza. I was in the area yesterday and stopped by by to find them closed. The sign outside still says....remodeling, reopening early 2012.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

I looked at his Facebook page and it appears he was working on it in February. I left him a PM asking if he's got any news for us. :)

I got this reply from Matt, with his permission to post it:

Matthew Ptasienski wrote:Hi, Robin,
The shop will be ready in a month or so. I'm in the midst of talking to a few people who might be interested in lease and reopening the joint. Once that happens, it'll be ready to go!
