Coals offline menu type

by Mark R. » Wed Jan 04, 2012 8:28 pm

Madeline and I discussed a fixed price menu for several reasons. The first place it would allow Mike (their chef) to make as some pizzas that are not on the menu, he has many ideas he would like to try! Secondly it would allow everyone to sample several different types of pizza which would give people new to the restaurant a choice to sample many different selections and others may get to sample one they haven't tried. In the third place it would be much easier for the wait staff and facilitate faster service for a large group like we normally have.

We discussed the menu starting with appetizers than a small salad, pizzas and a small desert, drinks would be separate your choosing. Madeline has assured me that price would be quite affordable for everyone to do this. Of course if anyone wanted to order something additional they certainly could.

I know the last couple of offlines we've done with a large group attending have been done this way at Peking City bistro and Martinis and everyone seemed to enjoy the format because it gave them a chance to sample different things. However if the majority would rather order off the menu that's certainly an option.

I've got to know the price first.

Yes, knowing the price may make all this pointless.

"There was only one catch and that was Catch-22" Would the fixed price be the same for 5 as well as 50? No way to know the fixed price without knowing how many people would be interested in the fixed price menu.

Within reason yes it would be the same price no matter how many people. If you've been there you would realize that their pizzas are rather small so we would have many of them thus It would not take a very large group to make a fixed price work. If we have more people participating in that aspect we just might have more options available.

I voted either way. However, I've been five times and I've had different pizzas each time. They were quite litterally the best five pizzas I've ever had. While I would not be upset if I had to pick a single type, I would be thrilled to get to have more than one kind.

I voted adamant for the fixed price. I'd love to see what the chefs come up with and what they feel are their strongest dishes. I'm a pretty adventurous eater though and I understand that not all here are the same way. I just think it'd be a shame to have an event like this and miss an opportunity to let the chefs, whose judgement I trust, really show us their stuff.
