Looking for Louisville area restaurant serving cornish hen

by Michelle Little » Sun Oct 21, 2007 5:02 pm

A good family friend asked me what restaurants she could go to that served "cornish hen". She had it once before and liked it and would like to find a restaurant that serves it. I've found a couple of places just doing a google search, but thought I'd ask here for some personal recommendations.

She's on a limited income so if you have some less-expensive places to suggest, that would be even better!

Thanks!

Michelle, I hope somebody comes up with an answer for you! I like those little cornish hens, but I'm having a hard time thinking of a local restaurant I've been in lately that has them.

If it helps your friend at all to know this, "Rock cornish hens" are really just small chickens, not a different species of bird, so they might be cuter to look at than a frying hen, but it's essentially the same meat.

Jarfi's Bistro -
Chef Jeff uses cornish hen in his tajine and it is amazing.

I'm not 100% sure..... But I think that Rockwall in the Knobs serves those tasty little birds!

Slightly off point, but in an unrelated project I ran across Star Farm in Hardyville, Ky., which primarily grows heirloom breed Bourbon Red turkeys that sometimes show up on local restaurant menus. According to their Website, they also grow organic Rock Cornish hens. Looks like they sell online, and you might be able to give them a call and find if any Louisville restaurants are on their regular customer list.

The Kentucky Ag Department's web page about them has parentheses in it, which the forum software won't accept as an embedded link, but if you'll Google
star farm hardyville ky
and click the first result, it will take you there.

Or COPY this link and paste it in to your browser - it won't work here because the forum software won't include the part in parentheses in the clickable link:

Another OT response: Last I knew, Asiatique served quail. It's fowl anyway!
