Agua de Coco

by Alanna H » Sat Mar 17, 2007 12:15 am

aka coconut water. Not coconut milk. Anyone know where to buy it? I used to drink glasses and glasses of it at Mambo and would really love to have it again. I looked at Kroger but no luck. Mid City Mall's Valu has something called coconut juice but I don't know if that's the same thing.

I'd suggest the Iroquois Manor Valu Market on south 3rd.

Or likely to be found in many of the asian grocery stores nearby.
I may be mistaken, but i think i've seen it at Binh-Phuoc and Viet-nam (opposite side of the street from the Valu-Market.)
I used to run errands and 'gopher runs' out to both places several times a month and would find myself browsing the shelves aimlessly sometimes looking for inspiration, and could have swore I've seen it before.

I'd say your more likely to find it at stores with more of a south east Asian inventory, as opposed to those that specialize in Korean or Japanese products.

You may have some luck at La Tropicana on Preston also.

Hope this was of some help.

I put vegetables in your desserts, white chocolate with your fish and other nonsense stuff that you think shouldn't make sense, but coax the nonsense into something that makes complete sense in your mouth. Just open your mind, mouth and eat.

Coconut juice?

That's what they have at La Perla del Pacifico.

Is it the same? It comes in a can.

It's seems to me as if it is everywhere I go. Try any ethnic grocery on Preston Hwy. They all carry it. Some health food stores carry it as well. There is a particular kind I like to get at Amazing Grace but I can't remember the name.

My wife cooks with it a lot. You can always find it at whole foods.

The Iroquois Manor Valu Market on south 3rd has it and I think the brand is Goya.
