Silver Dollar

My father took me out to eat for my birthday on Sunday. I suggested Hammerheads at first but they are closed on Sunday. We made the trek over to Frankfort Avenue and I'm glad I did. The food was great, atmosphere was nice, and I loved the music. I had the fried chicken livers for an appetizer. They were pretty good, the batter is light and does not hide the flavor of the livers. For the main course I had the braised short ribs with mac and cheese and collard greens as a side. All 3 were excellent. I really enjoyed the spicy collard greens. They are not over cooked mush like many I've tried in the past and had a nice spicy kick to them. The prices were were a bit high but thats about the only slight complaint I had with the place. I've heard complaints of large crowds and loud music but on a Sunday the place was pretty chill and I really enjoyed myself.

I agree with everything you said here. i too had the chicken livers and they were great. first time i've ever had a bowl of texas style chili (a bowl of meat), but it was really good also. I dig the old school country they were playing but would have to agree that it was loud to the point of being obnoxious. the wife and I just stopped talking because having a conversation was proving to be impossible.

all in all i really dig the place. this makes me feel very old, but i wish they would turn down the volume just a tad.

Went for the first time tonight with a group of friends.

1 - TURN DOWN THE VOLUME

It's no fun having to shout at someone who's only 2 feet away and they still can't figure out what you're trying to say.

2 - How about some light?

I'd really like to be able to read the menu or see what I'm eating. Ditto being able to see the check.

I'm really tired of loud, dark places. It's not enjoyable.

Food - really good, but please slice up the okra.

- Mark
