Four questions for Ashley
1. Is the $25 entry fee and/or $5 cover charges going into the O Shea's coffers to cover some of the prizes or is it going to some sort of charity? They have been very good community partners in the past.
2. How many people do you anticipate showing up so one might have a better idea of how much chili to make? I for one would feel bad about only coming with a Crock Pot of chili and running out if 500 people showed up that paid $5 to sample.
3. Is there going to be a Pro (restaurant or chef) category and an amatuer catergory or is it for whomever shows up to compete?
4. Is the chili going to be judged other than the ballots that are going to be available to those in attendence? Ballot box stuffing is rampant at events like this.....

Hey Dan. As of now, the O'Shea's Family of Pubs has given over $400,000 to local charities or families in our community that are in need. This event, however, is a for profit event.

This is the first year, so honestly, I have no idea what kind of response we will get. I would think that one very large crockpot or two medium ones will be sufficient. We will be doing 2oz samples, if that gives you any idea of how much you might need to prepare. We will stop admittance when people start getting low on chili.

There is not a "pro" category, anyone is able to enter. However, the head chef's name will be on the menu, not the establishment that he/she works for.

Each person that enters the door will receive one voting slip. No one person will be allowed to vote multiple times, so I don't forsee ballot box stuffing as an issue.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

Now THERE is a novel concept.

Sounds like a great event and just another in a long line of cool things you guys do for the community. We're gonna have to check our calendar, if we can work it in I'd love to go "spoon to spoon" against some of the "pros".

Thanks Ashley! I'll check my books tomorrow and see if I can come out and play with the other kids that night! Sounds like fun and I likes me some Falls City.

Some people think that Bud Select knocks the hard edges off the Hoptimus.

I am not one of those people.

Ashley, are contestants allowed to bring their chili in pre-made? I'm worried about home cooks' sanitation. The Phoenix Hill Chili Cook-off allows restaurant chefs to make their chili ahead of time but requires home cooks to make their chili on-site due to sanitation requirements.

Ahem. Let us clarify, my chili trophies have all been judges' choices, no ballot-stuffing. In case anyone is confused. I am pumped for an all people's-choice award event, though, if that's what it is!

Bring it!
Hopefully you do't have catering gig that night as I would love to spend an evening hanging out with you and John.
I'm sure Steve P. and Becky would be up for the challenge as well if they are in town.
