A Farewell To Louisville...

by MikeG » Fri Dec 16, 2011 11:47 am

Well the time has finally come, I landed a job just outside of the Twin Cities in Minnesota. In a month's time I'll be starting. I'll probably still pop in here from time to time. I've enjoyed learning about new restaurants, and even facepalming over some people's posts. I at least will have nearly as many good food options there as I did here so one of the things I did enjoy about this city wont be missed as much.

Eat well my friends.

We'll miss you, non-impostor Mike! Best wishes on the next stage of your life's journey, and yes, do please drop in and join our fun from time to time; and if you ever get back down this way, let us know, and we'll slay the fatted calf, or whomp up some calf-style seitan or something. :)

A friend of mine is the sous chef at Muffuletta in St. Paul. I've never been, but knowing his skills years ago at the French Culinary Institute I would highly recommend it.

I ate at a great Kurdish restaurant in downtown St. Paul when I was there a few years ago.

Mike, here's a weird "Minn/StPaul" tip...and I'd bet it still applies!
Years ago I was up there and my hosts said we were going to a "cafe" for dinner. I'm thinking, jeans & a sweater, etc. Turns out that they (Minn/StPaul) will often refer to some of their top-tier eateries as "cafes". Major oops for me!

Gonna miss you, Mike G! Next time I get up to Minnesota I'll take you out to Greg Norton from Husker Du's restaurant, for sure.

Send me a PM if you need any help getting a One Way Rental truck... I'm an employee of Penske, and would be happy to help you out.

Best of luck to you! Even though we have had some spirited posts, I will miss your insight as an ardent veg-head dining out locally.
