Inexpensive lunch for one in St. Matthews?

by Adam Smith » Wed Dec 14, 2011 10:45 am

I'll be in the St Matthews area this afternoon and was looking for something different and somewhat inexpensive. Does El Rumbon still park out in that area?

No - I think he's off of Dixie Hwy now. Where in St. Matt's?

All excellent picks in my opinion. Meridian Cafe is still good, if more traditional, and you might be interested in checking out Neighborhood Cafe, the new lunch-in-a-cone place next door to Lonnie's, just so you can say you tried it. (Mary and I liked it quite a bit, at least for a one-time change of pace.)

Of course, the Fishery is another old standard in St. Matthews. Or pick up something interesting from the Lotsa Pasta deli and eat it in their lunch spot on premises ... an often overlooked lunch option.

Geez, I'm absent-minded today, I completely forgot about Meridian and I've never been there! The lunch-in-a-cone place sounds like a place I'd have to go with someone so they have to try it too, lol.

Just to mess you up a little more, Nam Nam Cafe is a favorite of mine, and don't forget Simply Thai! And of course Cafe Lou Lou is just down the way ...

Don't forget Bluegrass Brewing. You can get out for less than $15 with a beer and have an awesome burger!

Just an update in case anyone's interested, I went to Bluegrass Burgers and I'm now stuffed and happy. Great fries and really good burgeres. I'd define it as somewhere inbetween Homerun and WW Cousins. Super friendly staff too, I'll definitely be back with some friends!

So many places to choose from!!!

I'd also add The Feed Bag inside the Clothes Horse (consignment store). Sandwiches, soups, salads, excellent reubens and hot browns! Delicious desserts- German chocolate pie, pumpkin chess, and peanut butter chocolate are may favorite! And the Clothes Horse is having a 75 percent off sale on all their clothes! I bought two pairs of dress slacks, and a neat little lighthouse lamp and lighthouse hand engraved plate for $6 (normally would have been $25).

I've not tried Bluegrass Burgers yet...will have to!
