Cooked Cat at Local Restaurant

by Shane Campbell » Sun Dec 11, 2011 1:03 am

A friend and I started our evening at 5:00 at NAX. The french onion soup was served with slices of soft pretzel bread and was delicious. The Rivertown Roebling Porter, a dark coffee tasting beer, is now my all time favorite porter. We decided however to change venues without ordering a main course when other customers in the restaurant seemed alarmed at our excited outbursts during the game.

We next tried Buffalo Wild Wings. The crowd there was electric and 99% IU fans. IU was up by 8 points when we walked in and the uproar was so loud no one noticed our own outbursts of glee. No tables or space at the bar were available however, so it was on to Hooter's. We had to wait for a few minutes but we were soon seated with beer and appetizers on the way.

Now I haven't been in a Hooter's since well before I retired from the service; not really anything there I need. I hear Denny Crum likes the burgers. What I really don't understand is why parents would bring small children to such a place, especially on a Saturday night during a big rivalry game. I was also surprised to see about twenty Wild Cat fans scattered about the place. The children outnumbered the UK fans assuming you differentiate between the two.

We had hot wings, boiled shrimp, jalapeno chili nachos, and Sam Adams Winter Lager to wash it all down. Christian Watford provided dessert with a rainbow three at the buzzer for an IU 73 UK 72 victory that was the sweetest sustenance for long suffering Hoosier fans. Cheers all!

We had a large crowd in the bar for the game. One table brought 4 small children with them. They eventually complained about the language being used by some of the disgruntled UK fans. While I agree that adults should not be cussing around small children, I also think good parenting might entail keeping your children out of a bar, during a sporting event, where adults will be drinking and likely to get riled.

I admit it. You hooked me with the Subject Line of your post.

Now who else thought feline as opposed to a reference to the State Religion in KY? Come on, stand up and admit it.

Just think now they will go into January and the SEC schedule with two losses.

Ho ho ho! Fans of the Red Teams north and south of the river united in glee yesterday! Well, maybe glee from north of the river, schadenfreude from the south.

"schadenfreude" I had to look this word up. It's a good one too. Taking joy in other's (Cats) misfortune. You keep using such language Antonia and you're only going to support my growing theory that you and Tim found the fountain of youth back in 19th century Austria. Hey you don't sparkle at night do you?

I don't know about a fountain of youth, but don't go rummaging through my closets, as you may find a creepily-aging portrait stashed back in one of them...
