early dinner alone.....

by Becky M » Fri Dec 09, 2011 2:39 pm

I am going to be in this area: Take the US-31E/US-150 exit, EXIT 17, toward LOUISVILLE/BARDSTOWN. (sorry i dont know what area this is called, thats my lasgt exit off of mapquest)..... tonight. My appt. is at 6:30 but i will be getting to the area pretty early to beat the rush hour traffic crossing the bridge.

I am looking for a place to have an early dinner by myself since i will have time to kill. any suggestions?

That's Fern Creek - a well reviewed forum favorite is right off the exit.

Sake Blue

There are other spots, but if you're in the mood for Japanese or Sushi, this is a good choice that is right there. They have a sushi bar also, good for dining alone.

Sort of a restaurant wasteland there, but the Sake Blue recommendation is a good one.

Isn't Dakshin out that way for Indian food?

Brian's right- you should try Sake Blue.

They have this waterfall relief that produces a lovely ambient sound.

It seems to me that the bill-of-fare and cultural stimulus would produce a zenlike experience- ideal when dining alone.

A perfect cure for what ails you as the weary traveler. Not too heavy on the stomach, as well. Personally, I'd go for the tea (healing) and some spicy sushi (invigorating) at the end, simply to charge up before heading back out on the road...

Otherwise, it's a bunch of strip-mall schwallay from my recollection.

She said she didn't want sushi and if she doesn't want sushi I'm not sure if she'd want Indian.

But if so, Dakshin is 3.8 miles north of 265 at 4472 Bardstown Road. Also, in that shopping center is Las Gorditas and there is a new cuban restaurant right before Walgreens in the area of 4472 Bardstown Rd.

Las Gorditas you'll have to eat outside or in your car.

Just a few miles south of 265 on Bardstown Rd, if your in the mood for bbq

Check out Sake Blue's dinner menu on their website - they have a whole mess of cooked, non-sushi items. Also a hibachi grill menu.

Ok, this is my last suggestion, owned by Texas Roadhouse, one of a few in the country and was a pilot. Very solid American food and very reasonable prices.

Becky, Adobo Mexican is also new in that area. I think it's the El Nopal/Los Aztecas type rather than a taqueria, but a woman at our bank who lives in the Creek say she and her husband love it. If you're driving in from the Snyder it's in a shopping center on the left between Fairgrounds and Hudson Lane. I wanted to check it out when I was passing through the Creek every Sunday this autumn, but always ended up eating with my friends in Bardstown. :( If you try it, let me know if I should go back out.

From my one visit to Adobo, it's a thumbs down imo (wish it weren't the case as this is my neck of the woods)
