We dined at Marketplace for the first time last Saturday evening and walked away very impressed.
Immediately, we were impressed by the atmosphere, classy, without being stuffy. We also appreciated both the size of the tables and the space left between them.
Our service was somewhat slow due to an apparent staffing issue and a few rogue diners who chose to seat themselves, but that is only a minor complaint, as we were in no hurry, and once I had my first drink, I really thought nothing of it.
We started with the rosemary parmesan truffle fries and the flatbread with mozzarella, ricotta and caramelized onions, and both were outstanding. At first I thought it was odd that the fries came with no dipping sauce, but after tasting them, I understood. We had to ask for a box for half of the flatbread so that we had any chance of eating our entrees.
I ordered the short rib and she opted for the sea bass special with a jalapeno sauce that managed to capture all of the flavor of the pepper, but with only a little bit of heat, as to not overwhelm the fish.
Both were delicious. My girlfriend, who almost always takes some leftovers home, cleaned her plate, and I ate a short rib and egg breakfast the next morning.
We will definitely be back.
