Man, oh man, the writing is on the wall. You know it's the end of an era when Ear-Xtacy folds and Gary Heine is forced out of his namesake company.
What in the world will happen next?

I disagree. Gary had signed a buyout agreement with his partner Mike. Mike triggered the agreement and Gary had the opportunity to buy out Mike. He chose not to. Gary chose not to "force out" Mike. I don't think anyone was forced out. If Gary thought the buy out agreement would leave him on the short end of the stick, then he wouldn't have signed it. He's a sharp guy.

Yeah, I think we've got a little bit of tabloid journalism going on here. Interesting stuff, but more heavy breathing than the facts justify. I'm pretty sure it was an amicable divorce, and Gary has really been focusing much more on 15,000 Farmers and related projects already, leaving Mike as the de facto management. Cindy's article isn't wrong, really, but I don't think there's a lot to see here.

My take was Gary was moving into other things and Mike was doing most of the day to day stuff

I would have commented further, but that would be flagellating a deceased ungulate...
