Two Beer Events North of the River

by Shane Campbell » Tue Dec 06, 2011 4:24 pm

I know it's short notice but if your looking for something to do tonight or tomorrow night while the weather is soooo nice, consider these two events.

Tuesday night at 5:00 in Charlestown
NABC rises to Occupy the Charlestown Pizza Company. There will be five new offerings for tasting and presumably drinking. Including something called Dirty Squirrel Belgian Zwarte Ale. I would not attempt to describe this one without a tablet or at least a professional brewer standing nearby. Hey I'm sure one will be. Pizza, prizes, ugly sweaters, and unclean rodents; that's so Winning!

Wednesday night at 5:00 in Sellersburg
Upland descends to the Fireside Bar and Grill with four of their own tasty brews. Including their Winter Warmer Barley Wine that can not be handled by the common man or woman. Three dollar draft pours and ½ priced craft bottles. Menu by Marshall Jewell. Check it out!

Thanks Shane

It was good to see you there tonight.
Sorry, there wasn't anything really sessionable on draft.

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza. D Barry

The Upland/Fireside event last night was a blast. Dan from upland brought down four very fresh beers and lots of swag. Our table ended up with 21 Upland glasses to take home. They ran out of glasses before beer thank goodness. These were $3 pours and you got to keep the glass with each pour.

The Dragonfly IPA was and always is an excellent bitter ale. I also liked the Bad Elme'rs Porter. The Winter Warmer (barley wine 8.5% abv) was also popular at our table although I didn't try it. The Upland Wheat which is their signature beer was not sampled by our table. Not sure why but I have some at the house and it is a fine representative of the type.

The appetizer menu was created by Marshall Jewell for the occasion and we tried them all. Beer cheese, crab cakes, curried chicken, cajun flank steak, and smoked short ribs; all went down wonderfully with the beer. The beer is still available at the Fireside and the pours will continue to be just $3 each (glass not included) until it's gone

Lauren also gave me 30 free drink vouchers to give out to Hotbyters. These are good for any well drink or tap beer pour. Let me know if you want one, there's no expiration date! Thanks Upland and Fireside for a great evening! Cheers
