Tattoos trace kitchen culture shift

by Steve P » Tue Dec 06, 2011 10:55 am

It was like a bolt out of the blue I tell ya...I read this article and it came to me. The way to my second million. A tattoo removal truck. :?

..."Once considered the province of sailors, bikers, ex-cons and, of course, college hipsters, tattoos have become standard attire in professional kitchens, a symbol of culinary culture as surely as a toque"...

Here's a key line: “If you look at a chef with beautiful tatts, you might also be looking at a chef that presents very beautifully plated food,“ I'm not morally opposed to tattoos, but I've never looked at one and thought "beautiful."

I have seen excellent art work within a tattoo and have respected the work yet I won't be getting one anytime soon.. not a fan of neck tattoos or the breast plate tattoo so many women seem to have. It's rare I find one that inspires the awe of beautiful art. But it's happened.

I love the tattoo removal truck idea. Doh!

I generally agree and with the removal aspect, as well, but there was this one girl- with one tattoo, in Orlando. Wow, so beautiful- she wanted only one tattoo and wanted to make it count...

So she had an entire sidefrock done of an Okinowan Princess, done in the Okinawan style.

Truly, it was beautiful.

I've come darned close myself to getting tats, as well- in New Orleans. The chef's knife on my right forearm and the muddling stick on my left.

Yeah, like so many other things in life... there's no taksies-backsies. So I decided against it.

Dude, it's gonna be -huge-...I spent lunch-time crunching numbers and refining my business plan. I figure besides a truck with a generator big enough to run a laser machine about all I'm gonna need is a doctor and a gum-snappin' driver/receptionist who doesn't mind the smell of burning flesh. Findin' the right doctor will be the hardest part but even that shouldn't be too difficult. I figure all ya gotta do is hang out at some A.A. meetings until you run into some chancre mechanic on a last chance letter from the medical board. Couple hundred bucks a week and a bottle of wodkie every now and again and he's mine.

Hell, who knows I might just have a -fleet- of tattoo removal trucks here in a few years...Have me a krewe runnin' the show while I'm kickin' back on the beach gettin' my snack on, gettin' my drink on...ohhhhhhh yeah.

But do you want to go through all of the regulations it takes to set up a Tattoo Removal truck? The fees, licensing, submitting the schematics to the city not to mention all of the environmental factors...
Wonder how often you would have to move the truck?

Mmmmmmm....yeah, ya probably have some valid points there. What the hell though, I figure as long as I set up more than 150 feet from a brick and mortar tattoo removal service, I should be good to go.

Apparently, Mayor Fischer is already on this problem. He's commissioned at Tattoo Removal Truck task force to simplify regulations. So, full speed ahead tattoo haters!
