At least some of the Krogers have it. Good stuff, but a little more expensive than some soft drinks.

Yeah, it used to be a little more rare, but I know they have it at Valu Mkt, and likely most Kroger stores. Probably big liquor stores, too.

Where'd ya have it, Becky? Did you go to a fun restaurant this weekend???

Thanks for asking Jackie.... no fun restaurant here.... i went to a Mommies event, bunch of Mommies and a WHOLE mess o' kids.... lol We went on a tram ride @ the Mega Cavern Lights Under Louisville, then a Christmas party. sometimes im a bit embarrassed that my motherhood defines me.

Alie8 is a Kentucky product (Winchester) and there is a diet version.

yup... looked it up online, but just couldnt find what actual stores carried. My husband had the regular and i had the diet, i really, really liked it. You can buy it online and it was pretty cheap, $10 for a case of 24, but i am sure shipping would be ridiculous on it.

I've seen it at Walmart before too. It's easier to find around Lexington if you happen to be in the area. Finding the diet version can be difficult around here, but it's easy in Lexington!

<3 <3 <3 Ale 8...I grew up drinking it.

I know Kroger at Stoneybrook has both regular and diet. There are rules though. It is never to be drank from a can, bottles only, glass preferably. If you are in the eastern part of the state and can find a long neck, you should get it before any other container. Always cold from the bottle, and not over ice. Those are the big ones! :D I have loved this stuff since I was in middle school. FYI Smashburger has it and you can even get an Ale-8 float. Glad to see a little love for my favorite drink. My wife hates the stuff!

+1 to all of the "rules"...LOL

I refuse to drink it out of a can. It just doesn't taste right. I haven't seen returnable bottles since I bought some at Kroger in Morehead about 10 years ago...are they still using them at all?

I didn't know Smashburger had it -- I hope they have veggie burgers because I could go for an Ale8 float. :)

ETA: Ale8 does seem to be one of those "love or hate" things, doesn't it? I did a research paper on Ale8 in college for a southern sociology class since it's a regional product with such a large following, and that seemed to be the main evaluation I found everywhere...you either love it or you hate it.

If you don't want to commit to a 12 pack. Red Hot Roasters sells both Ale8 and Diet Ale 8 at both locations.
Also we use the drink in an play on an Italian Soda: The Kentucky Soda--Ale 8 a shot of flavor (we recommend vanilla or blue raspberry) topped w/ some fresh made whipped cream.

i agree with all the rules as well.... i do not want to change how i fell in love with it! lol and it seems as if it is one of those love it or hate it flavors.... i definitely fell in love with it, definitely. when i asked my husband what it was, he said it was "sort of like a ginger ale, but not." i am not a fan of ginger ale, i will drink it occasionally, but will not go out of my way to buy it. i will for this.

Sondra, i will have no qualms committing to a 12 pack, lol. i dont drink alcohol anymore, cannot drink juice, so coffee and Diet Coke are pretty much it for me, be nice to add this into the rotation. Your version sounds yummy!.... a nice treat.
