You inspired me to jump in the car and drive over there. (It's close.)

It's dark and the sign on the door says "Closed for a facelift. We will reopen January 2012."

Let's hope that's all it is.

It's always hard to believe those signs. Fingers crossed.

Our church office building is right across the street. Local word is they are gone. Locks have been changed. They may reopen or perhaps have been sold but the impression is they are done. Very sad. We loved that place and they seemed to do very well during lunch.

Bummer. We sent a lot of our B&B guests there. I was craving a vegetarian Reuben. Don't judge.

This Email went out to people on Third Avenue's list today. Seems pretty solid ...

To the valued customers of Third Avenue Cafe-

Third Avenue Cafe is having a facelift! Over the next few weeks, we will be taking some time off to restructure our space, revise our menu, and renew our commitment to providing great food in a fun, local atmosphere. Not to worry, we'll still be the home of your favorite vegan and vegetarian items, as well as some creative new inventions for our carnivorous friends! Customer service and complete satisfaction is our #1 goal, and we look forward to serving you as a better, brighter Third Avenue Cafe in early 2012. Thank you for your support, and have a wonderful holiday season!

This sounds like a good move, if true. The last couple of times I've been the quality of the food, the service, all needed a face-lift. Small servings, overdone burgers, stale chips, and slow, slow, service. I hope they get it together. The neighborhood needs a good quality, reasonably priced place. Best of luck to them. Bill

I'm choosing to believe them, mainly because I want them in the neighborhood. And I like the vegan/vegetarian selections. Mesquite chips = food crack.

I like their food. However, last time I was in there, all they had was Yellow Tail wine. Eeuuuck. I hope better wine is one of their facelift changes.
