Quest for perfect turkey sandwich

by Steve H » Fri Nov 25, 2011 11:59 am

I have to start with my Mom's recipe as I haven't found any that I like better...

Apply mayo to 2 slices of whole wheat bread. Sprinkle freshly ground black pepper on both. Add the turkey on one slice and then top with a generous amount of thinly sliced sweet pickles. Place second slice of bread on top.

Enjoy!

Leftover turkey with leftover cranberry sauce on your choice of bread, medium toast, for the win.

I'll vote for the turkey sandwich at Mojito's

Sándwich Elena Ruth – Roasted turkey breast, artisanal strawberry jam, provolone cheese, cream cheese, served on hot pressed Cuban bread. 8

Juleps Catering will be on WHAS' Friday morning show with turkey, cranberry-jalapeno chutney, arugula and havarti cheese sliders on multigrain camelot rolls...

I think I just ate the perfect turkey sandwich. Dark meat, fresh picked garden leaf lettuce, and mayo on a lightly toasted homemade English Muffin.

Non Thanksgiving time, just head to Morris Deli (Deebs) for my favorite.

House Smoked Turkey on Wheat, Colby, Lettuce/Tomato/Onion, Mayo, and Horseradish.

Wheat bread, mayo on one side, Cranberry sauce (Grand Marnier) on other side with lots of moist white meat. Yum!

Both meats chopped fine, added to Southern potato salad (mustard in,) placed upon wheat with LTOP... silly, but SO good!

How come hot Turkey sandwiches aren't getting any love? They're definitely one of my favorite uses for leftover Turkey!

Maybe it's because I from way up north, but I much prefer a hot turkey sandwich, especially a hot turkey sandwich with mushrooms and gravy. When it comes to ideas for sandwiches, I think the Canadian Living magazine wins, hands down.

This is hysterical, I was writing this while Mark was making his post.

So, does this mean that the Hot Brown is the perfect turkey sandwich?

 Not my opinion because there are too many other flavors involved. For me the perfect hot Turkey sandwich is a slice of toast (preferably sourdough) several large slices of Turkey and then lots of gravy, top it all with some salt and pepper!

not so silly.... only around this time of year do i eat it this way:

homemade biscuit... mashed potatoes (a la miracle whip) ....bit of gravy....turkey (both dark and white, but i have been known to prefer dark meat!   ) then topped with some more gravy...

can anyone say carb overload?
