What are you thankful for.......

by Becky M » Wed Nov 23, 2011 12:22 pm

I'm thankful for my children. Even when the redundancy of everyday life with four ducklings seems to get to me...... God always brings me back and i realize that i have purpose. I am thankful that God has entrusted them to me while they are here. I am thankful that they are all healthy and doing great in school. I am thankful that even though it was yet another difficult year, we seem to have made it through. We are safe from the elements and dont go to bed hungry. in the big scheme of things.... what more can one really ask for.

i am thankful for this forum. It is a diverse group of people that i have grown fond of. There are truly some great hearts here..... i am thankful for Megan Watts. Even though i have never met her and am still nervous of accepting her many invitations to cry with her about the feelings our hearts share, i thank God for allowing our paths to cross. I know that when i am ready to accept the reality of my new world i will have a friend there.

But this year i am most thankful for the progress with my son J. Though in the beginning i saw it as a curse, a label, nothing more than knocks against my child, i am now beginning to appreciate the end result of doctors, evaluations, and hopefully soon full diagnosis. Every day is a new challenge, and some days all i can do is hold him and cry right with him, but...... i know there are no mistakes. We WILL live through this.... with perseverance and most importantly Faith. Through my son i am learning courage, patience, understanding, and most importantly love.

i ask you to seek your heart and share.........

Awwww! You are SO sweet. And I really wish you would take me up on my invites and at least friend me on Facebook! There is light at the end of the tunnel. Im beginning to see this too! I'm sure there are many forumites that can tell you that kids with Autism rock!! Different, not less!

And I'm thankful that I can live vicariously through other's food adventures. Though I'm too poor  to have a lot of my own, I love reading about it and seeing pictures of yumminess! It also baffles my coworkers that have lived in the area their whole lives how a "newbie" knows where all the good places are to eat.

I am thankful for a clean bill of health on my 6 year annual with my Oncologist ( Whoohoo!)

I am thankful for my family and my wonderful husband.

I am thankful for the Chefs, producers and stores who have enabled my passion for great food.

I am thankful for the friends I have made through this Forum ( It also doesn't hurt that it's enabling me to become the "go-to" person at my company/ friends for restaurant recommendations. )

Happy Thanksgiving, all!

I am thankful for my family, my friends, my cats(and dog) and of course for Anne...not sure if anyone else could ever put up with me.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Put down "Mary" for "Anne," John, and that's just what I would say. Well, we don't have a dog right now - our cats won't let us. But friends, family, animal pals and a bride who loves us and puts up with us, what more could a guy want?

I'm thankful my blood sugar is 115 - and not 336. I'm also thankful for all of those who have provided support over the last year. Health is an amazing thing and should never be taken lightly.

1. I am thankful for my family, because they are the best. 2. I am thankful for my friends both here in Louisville and through world. 3. I am thankful for my education, literacy and books. Through books, I have sailed the Seven Seas and more! 4. I am thankful for the American Constitution and that I have been lucky enough to be born in the USA.

My family and our pets. All of our friends. Those who sacrificed to make this the best possible place in the world to live and raise a family. Wine and good food.

I'm thankful for the many blessings I have in my life. Top of the list would be my wife Colleen. How she has managed to stay by my side even though for most of our life together, we never really spent much time as a couple because of the demands of my occupation. I'm also thankful to hold the position I do now. It now affords me the quality of life that anyone that hasn't spent many years in foodservice probably takes for granted.

I am thankful for my four year old son Hunter, He has taught me the meaning of true love. He is the driving success behind my every ambition. I am thankful for my boyfriend John for giving such a beautiful son. I am thankful for those who support me in my new business. I am thankful for post like this one, where we are reminded that whatever we might be going through we should forever be thankful for simple things such as our health, family, friends and lifes many lessons, for it is those lessons that shape us into the people we are and the people we aspire to be. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I'm thankful for my job. Thankful for my boyfriend, who is practically a saint, and the love of my life. Thankful that my brother opened his home to our aging dad who has Parkinson's Disease (now I can sleep at night, without worrying about him in a rehab center).

I'm thankful I get to live in the Highlands for now. Thankful that we have so many great chefs and restaurants in this city. Especially thankful for The Blind Pig and Seviche. Thankful to have the opportunity to write my column in the LEO. Thankful for our cats, our constant, loving companions. Thankful for a good palate and a knack for cooking. Totally thankful for this forum and all the cooking discussions, friends and business contacts it has brought me. I'm thankful for winning first place at the Phoenix Hill Chili Cookoff 3 out of the last 4 years.

I'm also thankful for locally sourced meats and produce, craft beers of all stripes, sodas filled from top to bottom with ice, cupcake push pops, wearing my chef's jacket in public, water without lemon, chili without pasta in it and ribs that fall off the bone

I am thankful for my modern amenities, by which I am referring to Louisville Hotbytes (and a little Facebook). My 25 yr old car boasts a bumper sticker that simply states "simplicity". I'm thankful that I'm capable and proud of living this way.

I'm spending Thanksgiving with my family tomorrow and bringing much love and FIVE dishes to the table. I also convinced my dad to cook for the first time in his life, and he called me earlier to let me know that his sweet potato casserole that I consulted him on was much easier than he thought it would be. I was like, "it's the night before, you realize that, right?". He was like, "they have a new microwave, right?" And I was like, "yes they do". He also baked a ham and is proud of the smiley face he designed out of pineapple rings and cherries. I hope it's a whole bone-in ham.

But above all, I'm thankful for love, passion, and tenderness - AKA oxygen, food, and water.
