Foodcation in Louisville

by Jeff Cavanaugh » Mon Nov 21, 2011 12:57 pm

Say you have some foodie friends coming to town for several days, and they've heard about Louisville's great restaurant scene. They want to pack in as much good eating as possible. Suggest your favorite, must-not-miss local places for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Tuesday through Saturday.

Example:

Tuesday
Breakfast: Wild Eggs
Lunch: Coals Artisan Pizza
Dinner: The Blind Pig

Wednesday
Breakfast: North End Cafe
Lunch: Hillbilly Tea
Dinner: Harvest

...Etc.

Personally, I'd "lose" Wild Eggs and send 'em to Verbena but that's just me.

We did carry-out breakfast one morning from Verbena and it's very good.

I still working on my five for each of the meals, but I agree with Steve, that Verbena is a must for breakfast. However, I'd keep Wild Eggs (the one in Middletown usually has the shortest wait) and loose one of the others. And I know for sure that on Satuday I'd do brunch at Coal's Artisan pizza! :D

You certainly have been given some excellent choices by others. I certainly agree with Verbena above Wild Eggs for breakfast, a much quieter atmosphere and more menu selections. Corbett's is an excellent choice for lunch especially when prices taken into consideration. Coals obviously should be on the list either for lunch or dinner depending on how big of meals you were planning on. There certainly as couple of others that I think should be on your list and at least considered. They would be Selena's, either for dinner or for their Sunday brunch (think hot beignets), Equus/Jack's (another great example of Deano's style), Bourbons Bistro and probably The Oakroom or English Grille for a grand finale!

Someplace you obviously have to treat them to a Hot Brown!
