Jean Farris Winery - Lexington

by Gayle DeM » Sun Nov 20, 2011 7:55 pm

Has any from this board dined at Jean Farris Winery http://www.jeanfarris.com/ in Lexington? (In August of this year the James Beard Foundation invited them to come to New York City and showcase their food and Kentucky wines.)

My older son and daughter-in-law celebrated their twentieth wedding anniversary there last evening. She reported that they had a most amazing meal and it was defintely worth the "pennnies."

They began their dinner a cheese and pâté plate - one of the cheese had truffles, the pate - duck. That was followed by a warm salad of frisee topped with a poached egg and goat cheese drizzled with truffle oil. For entrées they shared duck and rabbit. The duck was served with goat cheese polenta souffle. (I didn't get the details on the rabbit.) For dessert they shared a pear dessert baked in pastry and served with ice cream and a chocolate cake filled with chocolate mouse. They thought the estate grown wines were more than adequate. Over all they declared in to be the "best meal in Lexington" as well asm most probalby, the most expensive!)
