Cranberry Sauce Grand Marnier (Redux) and Fluffy Omelete

by Shane Campbell » Sun Nov 13, 2011 10:51 am

Kitch Girl
By day she wrangles killer food creations, by night she roams the dark streets of the Ville protecting unsuspecting hipsters and clueless foodees alike. (not that hipsters and foodees are anything alike…cause hipsters have piercings and dress all in leather….you know what I mean!)

Kgirl doesn’t shy from duty. Mysterious? you bet. She will look you in the eye and reel off a cranberry infused duck breast soufflé recipe(no msg) that makes the angels weep with envy. Then she’ll save your pathetic life with a gentle reminder “don’t be a stranger at spin class.” Sigh….

Her four story image doesn’t grace the side of any building in her fair city (she won’t even put up an avatar). But her guiding presence graces us all. We superficial bohemians who wander our lackluster lives dreaming only of that next deep fried truffle oil encounter. (Hammer Heads! Nope can’t park there…)

Sleep well river town for the KITCHEN GIRL stalks the dark streets tonight….. (especially around Bourbon’s Bistro)

Stay tuned for Kgirl vs. “He Who Shall Not Be Named” Except for the cryptic initials RB. Shhhhhh…… he’s always listening.

(The dramatic parts work best when hearing it spoken by the narrative voice of - The Most Interesting Man in the World) ---His thoughts so heavy they would break a normal mans jaw were he to speak them……

….except the parts in parenthesis which are best heard in the voice of the really funny guy on “The Big Bang Theory” you know the one I mean.

Disclaimer: Who is Kgirl? any similarities to persons or creations such as Hit Girl are incidental and entirely up to you! But this wouldn’t have happened if she had just put up an avatar. You know…a gold fish, a graceful spreading tree, even a can of cranberry sauce bought in a chain store (gasp) inside a circle with an X through it (save).

Cheers Kgirl

(pssst…notice how I interspersed this with food and restaurant references. The moderator will never notice this really isn’t about food. Except that CBSM recipe really looks killer. Hey, can you shape it into gummy bears?

Shane,
8) You clearly missed your calling as a writer- love reading your stuff! Two questions:

*Not getting the goldfish reference. Maybe I need to bone up on the latest sushi trends?

*Who is this RB and is he/ she up to the challenge? From what I've heard it's dangerous to dare KitchGirl- she's very competitive when it comes to food.

In answer to your recipe question: add enough Knox gelatin to ANYThing and you can make gummy bears....

Ahhh....Jax I'm surprised RB's identity is a mystery to you or are we merely playing to the crowd? Your a tricksy one you are. I know you once called this nefarious fiend wonderful but I thought you were setting him up for the kill.

Kgirl, I'm afraid Jax may have been compromised. The girl is overly fond of her bitter beer, and cider, and cider mixed with beer, and whiskey apparently......sigh. Oh well, I'm not giving up on you Jax. This villain may have drank the water of life and transformed as some say, but Stephen has a more powerful elixir. No Stephen put the white dog down. Don't worry Jax. We'll save you at the Whiskey Tasting intervention. Stephen hurry up. People need this stuff!

Some who may be reading this no doubt know this mastermind who lurks behind his haughty castle walls. The megalomaniac nearly trapped poor Heather in his hateful chains but she was strong and cast off those chains and in the end found a secret passage back that luckily enough came out in the ladies at Trader Joes.

If you still haven't guessed Kgirl's arch enemy I can offer a few more hints only. We must be wary now. Just thinking about him too hard can cause headaches, nose bleeds, and in rare cases, eruptions of smelly pustules....yech! His actual presence causes strong men to sob, women to faint, and children to foul their.....ooooh!

The great Shade tried to conjure this terrible wizard from his lair north of the great river deep in Indian territory. Alas, he did not answer and his legions cried out in confusion. Why did not the great lord answer this challenge? Was his presence truly gone from the land they wondered.

To be continued.................unless the great moderator puts a stop to it. But then we would just turn our attention to....... other things. He'd just stop that too idiot! Ok Ok

Hey Kgirl,

Goldfish is a red herring. Trying to say, that not giving us an avatar forces your fans to imagine one. Your posts suggest to me that, more than just someone who enjoys good food, you revel in the experience of creating and sharing with others. So, I could have imagined your avatar as a cake, a chef's hat, a candelabra on a linen topped table, or any other mundane object that one might associate with those activities.

I didn't happen to choose to see you that way however. So, like it or not you'll always be Kgirl to me now. Fighting the good fight against the forces of bland food and cheap booze (and RB for a little while).

Besides, the candelabra stalks the streets at night just didn't work no matter how I phrased it.

Cheers Kgirl!

btw how was the BS offsite tonight.

SC, you're a riot. The BC offline could only have improved with your presence. I can't wait to meet you!

Minutes after posting my query about the meaning of RB, I got it. I just happen to know a LOT of RB's and couldn't think past them. Hopfully he'll rebuild that bridge soon.

Alsooo, I love the nickname Jax. Some of my favorite people ever call me that, so it's no surprise to hear it from you ;-).

P.S. - I'm so embarrassed about my F-Bombs the other night, so I may be drinking ale at the Roulette offline.

Hey Jax,
Don't worry about the colorful language. In fact, no F-bombs no Jax.

As it happens one of my favorite people in the world is JackieS. She lives in the Cleveland area and I miss her a lot. Back in the day, an F-bomb from JackieS was like a period at the end of a sentence.

She was a bartender for a while. I think she scared off too many customers and had be a mom instead. She is a natural at that. Doesn't even have to use F-bombs anymore. A look from JackieS can shock the tail off a monkey. As a matter of fact I don't believe her dogs have any tails either hmmmm...

We spent the weekend after Thanksgiving last year at their place. We had hurricanes. Lots of hurricanes. Well Jackie and I did anyway. I'm told I had fun. The next day was not fun, I remember that alright!

Anyway I've always called her Jax and she let me. So, I'm honored if you will as well.

Cheers Jax!

Shane,

You have shamed KitchGirl into creating an avatar. Not sure what this picture says to you, but to me it says: "One of the most memorable meals ever- Perfect tapas with Iberico ham in Valencia, Spain".
I think KitchGirl's alter-ego is Spanish...

Excellent KitchGirl! that would explain the firey temper and cat-like reflexes! Shall we see KGirl in action? Lustrous red mane flashing soft ends died deep purple almost black. Like the dark clouds that have gathered over her sleepy river town. Good folk look up anxiously and wonder, "will be we saved?" Well will we?
