7 Year Old's Review of Westport General Store

by Harold B » Fri Nov 11, 2011 10:01 am

Abbi states after our meal is over, "Daddy do you know why I like the Westport General Store?"
I reply, "No, why do you like it."
Abbi - "Because everything is homemade." :D

After a hard week our family decided to go out for dinner last night and we chose the closest place for us to go - the Westport General Store. Our dinner started out with a Woodford on the rocks for me, a glass of Shoofly for Christi and two Shirley Temple's (Sprite was ordered but Will doctored it up) for the kids along with the Andouille Quesadilla. The children split the All American Burger, and Christi and I had the Bison Burger and the Chicken Saltimbocca Sandwich respectively. The dinner ended with a serving of Will's Blackberry Cobbler.

Everything created by Chef Dave was great, and it is best summed up with our daughter's statement above.

Whether it is a sandwich from your closest place to go or you make the drive from the Highlands for a black and bleu Bison ribeye, WGS should be on everyone's list.

I've had my own hard week. And I like when things are homemade. Your daughter might have a future in sales (or persuasion of some sort), because she's selling me on the idea of heading out to WGS.
Thinks the frosty mug is the low point in American history.

If we weren't going to the U of L game tonight, we'd be out there in a heartbeat to enjoy that wood-burning stove! What a perfect evening it would be for it. Brrr.

This is the best review I have ever read. It brings joy to my heart when the kids love the place.

And Antonia- the wood burning stove is fired up and waiting for you.
